From the Pastor's Pen...

We talk about the oneness we share in Christ among our Churches and we emphasize the need for unity in the midst of adversity, but to see this oneness in Christ in a community is a great witness to this truth.  Such was the case recently when our church was used for the visitation and Rosary for a Catholic family of our community.  The De Soto Baptist Church was honored, lifted up and regarded as a co-worker in Christ by their gesture.  Approximately 900 people passed through the visitation that evening and were able to witness our oneness in Christ.

We should be thankful that the Ross family respected us enough to allow us to be a part of this very difficult experience in their lives.

Likewise the Ross family has expressed their gratefulness to us for being open to them through this expression sympathy.  Their very meaningful note of thanks is here for all of our church to read.

Richard

Reverend Copeland and Members:

We want to thank you and your congregation for allowing us to use your beautiful church for Mark's visitation.  We also want to thank your members, our friends, who offered support to us at this difficult time.

We have a wonderful Christian community in De Soto.  It reveals true Christian spirit when members reach beyond religious beliefs to help one another as your congregation has.

Thank you again. May God Bless all of you.

Bob and Mary Anna Ross and the family of Mark Ross

Vacation Bible School

We will have our annual Vacation Bible School from June 1-5, 2009.  Many people have volunteers to help us, for which we are most grateful.  Our VBS is open to all children ages 3 through 12, so be sure to encourage family , friends, and neighbors to enroll their children for this week full of fun and excitement.

If you cannot volunteer to help but would like to make a financial contribution, there are envelopes spread throughout the pews.  You can label them with VBS and then put them in the offering plate or in the VBS basket in the vestibule.  We appreciate all of the support we receive every year for this most important outreach ministry.
