De Soto Days Festival 2008 "Into the Future"

Please note that the dates, times, activities and prices are subject to change. We will keep the list as updated if changes occur. On Thursday and Friday evenings, overflow parking can also be found at Engineered Air (corner of Kill Creek Road and 83rd Street) FREE of charge beginning at 5:00 p.m. Engineered Air is within walking distance of the park (approximately 200 yards).
Thursday, August 28th Events:
Carnival Wristband Night at Miller Park Time: 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Cost: $20.00 per person Purchase a wristband and ride all of the rides that evening for one price! Food booths are open, too!
Live Magician at Miller Park Time: 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. come enjoy magic at Miller Park!
Friday, August 29th Events:

Live Music at Miller Park - Local Brass Band Time: 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Band to be announced.
Saturday, August 30th Events:
On Saturday, take a ride on an old-time trolley to tour De Soto! The trolley will operate until 4:00 p.m. The trolley's will load/unload at the city park gazebo area and will be taking town tours and the De Soto Museum at Abbott Hall will be open to visit.
PARKING INFORMATION FOR CONCERT!!! Directions: From K-10 Highway, take second De Soto exit West bound or first exit East bound. Go North to 91st Street (just past traffic light). Turn left, go past Sonic & KFC, and De Soto High School is on the right, 35000 W. 91st Street. Park on the East side of school and the shuttle will start at approximately 6:00 p.m. running every 15 minutes through 12:00 a.m. at the conclusion of the concert. Additional parking just east of City Park at Engineered Air which is within walking distance to the park.
Car and Bike Show Time: Registration begins at 8:00 a.m.; Show from 8:00 a.m. - Noon; Judging begins at 1:00 p.m. Cost: For car entries - $10 per car, FREE admission for spectators Attention car show registrants: Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. at the "A" Field in Miller Park at the green tent for all cars and bikes. Bikes will be parked on 83rd Street and cars will be parked on the baseball fields. Door prizes and drawings for those registered in the show.
Parade information for Bikes and Cars: THERE IS NO FEE FOR THE PARADE but you MUST register. If you would like to be in the parade, please be at the Baptist church between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Again, there is no charge to drive in the parade. For those wanting to enter in both the parade and the car show, the parade will end at A field for the cars. Kid's
Parade - sponsored by Pizza Hut Time: 9:30 a.m. Make plans now to participate in the All Kids Parade. Meet at the corner of 83rd and Peoria St. by 9:30 a.m. No registration needed. Decorate yourselves and your bikes! Kids Parade will walk from Peoria Street to Shawnee Street . **Please - No pets or motorized vehicles in kids parade. Parade is for 5th Graders and under.**
De Soto
Days Parade Time: Following the Kids Parade. Parade should be downtown by 10:00 a.m. (leaving High School at 9:45 a.m.)
Children's
Balloon Artist Time: Following the parade for 2 hours.
Craft and
Commercial Booths Time: Around 11:00 a.m. Visit over 30 booths with all kinds of unique items!
VFW Bingo Time: All Day after parade It's back by popular demand! The VFW will again have B-I-N-G-O at the De Soto Days Festival!

The F*Bombs **FREE CONCERT** Performing in Miller Park, "A" Ball Field Time: 9:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for a night under the stars and for great music by The F*Bombs! Food vendors will be open as well.
Information on Parade Participation
You are invited to participate in our annual parade to be held Saturday, August 30th at 9:45 a.m. The Parade theme is: “Into the Future”
Prizes will be awarded based on theme: First place: $300 Second place: $200 Third place: $100 Fourth place: $50 Fifth Place $50
Marching groups will receive plaques and will be eligible to win prizes if they are decorated/participating according to theme.
NO candy to be thrown from moving vehicles or floats. You MUST walk to distribute candy or you will be disqualified from prizes.
